Eroding Freedom - February 12, 2004 The Janet Jackson breast flash during the Superbowl has lite a fire under congressional hypocrites. The very congresspeople that argue less government is more, are ready to expand government into our lives. All because Janet Jackson exposed part of her breast. The images on TV were from from indecent. However, the actions on the part of congress to increase fines for something as ubiquitous as a woman's breast is moronic. Lawmakers are once again trying to legislate morality. A right-wing, conservative, Puritan, morality that is not shared by everyone who lives in this country. The Bill of Rights continues to be attacked, and eroded, by these right-wing conservatives. The freedom of speech has been sliced into little pieces, in order to have the conservatives nibble away at it. Until the whole thing is one day gone. These people believe in the freedom to spew their conservative agenda. What they don't believe in is the right to be complete, and without limits. All except one right, the right be bear arms. How I wish that conservatives fought as hard for the freedom of speech as they do for the right to bear arms. Sadly, this is not the case. All the while our President continues to lie to us about everything from Weapons of Mass Destruction to his service record in the National Guard. But, no one cares, because everyone is too busy fighting through traffic to bother with such things as these. Meanwhile the country is being run into the ground by those who run up record deficits, conduct secret wars, and machinate plans to bleed more money from the working class through nefarious means. But nevermind all that, Janet Jackson flashed her breast on TV. She should be hunted down like Osama Bin Laden. Her actions, according to congress, are tantamount to the 9/11 attacks. But don't worry, congress will make everything safe for you. Just like they made it easier for you to get a job, or how they figured out how to have universal health care, or how they solved all the problems in the country by taking away your choices. Yeah, that's the ticket. |
